Music blared from the speakers as we made our entrance through the club. What a warm welcome. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as they danced with the music or lounged at the sushi bar nibbling on a variety of sushi rolls, their chopsticks held up in the air. I just couldn’t be upset any longer.
“Reika! Ritsu! Over here!” A familiar voice called from the sushi bar. It was our fellow bassist, Koichi, waving enthusiastically, signaling us to come over.
I waved back at him, smiling as believably as I could. I turned back to Ritsu. “Do you mind if I leave you here for a while to grab a few sushi rolls? My stomach’s starting to growl.”
Ritsu laughed. “No, I don’t mind at all. Go ahead. I’ll meet you back here, okay?”
I nodded, watching him disappear in a crowd of fan girls as I made my way toward Koichi.
“What’s up?” I asked, helping myself to a few sushi rolls. I wasn’t actually hungry; I just wanted an excuse to stay away from Ritsu for a while. It was unfortunate that the best ones were being hogged by 2 chubby girls that talked loudly about yaoi next to us. I rolled my eyes.
“Oh nothing, really,” Koichi replied, popping a naruto roll in his mouth. He turned toward me and looked at me solemnly. “I know.”
“Kn—know about what?” I stammered, forcing a sushi nori down my throat.
“About you two, obviously,” he said. “Now tell me, is it because of her?” He pointed to a tall woman (about Ritsu’s height) dressed in a black A-line dress. Locks of dark brown hair cascaded beautifully down her back like a waterfall. She was talking to Ritsu. Ritsu’s forehead was creased meaning he was troubled. I walked closer to them, but I also wanted to be unseen, so I hid behind a thick wooden ceiling support post but I still made sure that I was within hearing range. The music was so loud, making it hard for me to hear what they were telling each other.
“Please, quit the band and come back home... I miss you… We miss you…” the girl said. She walked slowly out of the club.
Could she be the girl that left the voicemail? And… what does she mean when she said “We miss you.”? Oh no. It can’t be what I think it is…
I walked up to Ritsu in rage. And I did the unthinkable. I slapped him.
“So you were cheating on me! Ritsu … how… how could you do this to me?” Tears came streaming down my face. I could feel the heat of everyone staring at us, but I paid no attention to them.
“Reika… Reika!” he was trying desperately to get me to calm down. He gripped my shoulder tight. “It’s not what you think it is! I am NOT cheating on you!”
“Oh yeah?” I wiped the tears off my face with the back of my hand. “Can you explain what I just saw and heard? That girl… WHO IS SHE?!” My voice echoed in the now-silent club. “UGH! You know what? Just forget it. I don’t need you!”
I sprinted out of the club in the rain, running as fast as my feet could carry me. I didn’t care where I was going. I just wanted to be away from him, from them, from everyone.
“REIKA!” he called; his eyes widening. And then I finally knew why.
I was standing in the middle of a busy street…with a speeding car right behind me.
I didn’t know how to react, so I stood my ground. This was goodbye.
But I was only pushed off to the side as I watched the most horrifying scene I have ever seen in my life.
My best friend Jonathan and I working on a creative, fictional, 2-perspective story for Language Arts. He does Ritsu's part, and I do Reika's.
This is the first part of the story, depicting Reika's perspective of the event. Ritsu's perspective is expected to be posted in the next few days, hopefully. Enjoy the story, and don't forget to leave opinions on how to make it better. Remember, this is only a ROUGH DRAFT.
Once again, thank you. :D
Have a nice day, kyuu-chan/minna-san! ;D
